A NOVEL: DIARY OF AN ENGLISHSAURUS PART 1

In the Beginning
"I won't make it."

That's the first thing that came to my mind when my friend, Mariel, sent me a message with the list of examinees from the University I applied to last night. The instructions were crystal clear – be present at the venue thirty minutes before the scheduled examination time, 8 A.M., But It's already six a.m., I haven't taken a shower, and my aunt doesn't even know about my attempt to apply to that university.

In a rush, I prepare and attempt to explain the situation to my aunt for nearly an hour.  The gravity of the examination day slowly dawns on her. I have to emphasize the importance of this day and why it caught me by surprise.

After a frantic start, I manage to convey the urgency to my aunt. With her reluctant understanding, I rash to get ready. As I am getting ready, the clock becomes my enemy, and anxiety tightens its grip.

Desperately hoping I can make it in time. I quickly draft a message to Mariel, explaining my situation, and she responds with unwavering support, offering to accompany me to the university. With her encouragement, I manage to get ready in record time, and we set off for the exam venue.

As the clock ticks away, the realization sinks in that I'm running late – really late. My anxiety peaks, and thoughts of missing the test swirl in my mind. Upon arrival, I discover I'm not the only one running late; three of us are in the same boat. Without even having breakfast or lunch, we navigate the maze of unfamiliar university buildings to reach the exam venue.

Arriving at the examination venue nearly an hour behind schedule, my nerves are on edge. Miraculously, the university staff, understanding our predicament, allows us to take the test. Grateful for Mariel's steadfast support, I immerse myself in the exam, determined to make the most of this unexpected opportunity.

The exam proves to be challenging, both mentally and physically strained after the whirlwind morning. Mariel's presence is a pillar of support. The nearly five-hour ordeal finally comes to an end, and as I exit the university, fatigue clings to every step.

The journey back home is a quiet reflection on the unexpected turn of events. As I await the results and the possibility of an interview, the day's chaos leaves me with a valuable lesson. It's a reminder to always be prepared, communicate effectively, and appreciate the friends who stand by you in times of crisis. Life's unexpected challenges may come, but with resilience and support, we can turn them into opportunities for growth.
